Professor Kenneth Wong earned his medical degree from the University of Edinburgh and a Ph.D. in Immunology from the Imperial College. He is an internationally renowned paediatric surgeon with clinical interests in neonatal surgery, advanced laparoscopic/robotic surgery, and thoracic surgery.

Professor Wong is currently Li Shu-Pui Endowed Professor in Surgery and Chief of Paediatric Surgery at The University of Hong Kong. Since 2007, he has been the co-project leader of the “Laparoscopic Workshops for Paediatric Surgeons in China,” training over 2,500 Chinese paediatric surgeons. He has also hosted numerous minimally invasive surgery workshops in Hong Kong and is a Faculty member of IRCAD in Taiwan. In 2023, his team was honoured with the Hospital Authority Outstanding Team Award for Neonatal Surgical Service.

Professor Wong has published over 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals with an H-index of 46 with over 9000 citations. He is Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pediatric Surgery Open, and Associate Editor for the Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Frontiers in Pediatrics, and BMC Pediatrics. Besides, he has delivered over 100 invited lectures globally.

Professor Wong holds leadership positions in several prestigious organizations. He is the Immediate Past-President of the Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons and current President of the Asian Association of Pediatric Surgeons and the Hong Kong Society of Paediatric Surgery.
